This past Sunday we sat with Psalm 133: "How very good and pleasant it is when kindred live together in unity!"  This Tuesday, November 3, is Election Day. And it's a good week to remember that unity doesn't stay inside the church walls.

Our vote is an act of stewardship. Scripture calls us to "seek the welfare of the city" where God has placed us (Jeremiah 29:7) and to pray for those in authority (1 Timothy 2:1-2). Voting is one way we care for our neighbors, our schools, our streets, and our city. It's a way of loving our neighbor with more than words.

Our vote honors those who came before us. Many in our church family remember when casting a ballot cost people their jobs, their safety, and even their lives. Our ancestors prayed, marched, and organized so we could have this voice. When we vote, we honor their sacrifice.

So here's the ask: make your voice heard.

  • Early voting ends this Saturday, October 31, at 5:00 PM.
  • On Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, polls are open 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
  • Not sure where to vote? Look up your polling place at elections.virginia.gov.
  • Offer a ride. If you know a senior or neighbor who needs one, make the call.

Pray before you go. Then go! Because how good and pleasant it is when God's people show up, together.

We are one, on Sunday and on Tuesday.
